Response of the Coccinellidae Community within Sustainable Vineyards to the Surrounding Landscape

The family Coccinellidae (Coleoptera) includes important predatory natural enemies in agricultural crops. To survive, this group uses different occurring resources across the landscape; therefore, landscape can influence community agroecosystems. In context, work aims to evaluate response of context within a gradient distances from vineyards managed under sustainable production methods. For that, were sampled thirty-five distributed by six wine Protected Designation Origin (PDO) regions Portugal, and metrics—composition configuration—were calculated 2000 m, 1500 1000 750 500 m buffers around vineyards. Then, species identified, metrics was analyzed. total, 326 21 collected. most abundant Scymnus apetzi, interruptus, subvillosus, Coccinella septempunctata, Stethorus pusillus, which together represented 83.4% total collected individuals. Most specimens concentrated July at vegetation cover. Results statistical analysis (Generalized Linear Mixed Models) indicated that presence seminatural habitat surrounding crop may favor Coccinellidae, while fragmentation seems detrimental for them. potential relevance identified pest control is discussed.
